Revelation 2:7
7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
The church today has a lot to learn from the seven churches in the book of revelation. At the end of every letter, Jesus says the famous words, “Let him who has ears hear what the Spirit says to the churches!”
As a modern-day church, it would be prudent of us to look at what Jesus was not happy about concerning these 7 churches and ask ourselves if we are in any of the situations that have been mentioned. If we are, then we must heed to the call of Jesus to repent and return to that place from which we have fallen.
We also need to look at the things that Jesus loved about the different churches. These are the things we should aspire to do more and to see growth in these areas because we know that these are the things that please our Lord. We should remember as Jesus mentioned to each church, he knows our works.
Finally, the thing I love the most in these messages is the promises that Jesus gives to every church and to those who overcome. These are things we should look forward to and this is a great reminder that our labor in the Lord is not in vain, God sees all that we do for him and he will reward us one day for all that we have done for him. This should keep us excited and focused as a church.
Most importantly we must remember and keep proclaiming that Jesus is coming back soon because that he is. To those who are not waiting for his glorious coming, he will appear like a thief in the night and it will be too late.
As the modern-day church, let us watch and pray and hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches!
