All eyes were on the Deputy President Residence in Karen as the nation eagerly awaited the President elect William Ruto to address the nation. At the start of the ceremony, prayers were led by the 2nd First Lady Dorcas Rigathi and Hon. Aden Duale who represented the Christians and Muslims inter-faiths respectively.
While addressing the nation, the incoming Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said, “Today is a great day for this country. It marks the beginning of the economic transformation of the Republic of Kenya. We are here not to say that we have achieved this victory but to say this victory is the work of God,” Hon.Gachagua said.
The DP-elect reassured Kenya’s that the incoming President is up to the task and together they will restore back the dignity in the Public Service. Gachagua went on to promise that he will fully support the decision and the vision of President-elect William Ruto.
“Let by-gone be by-gone and let all those who are against us join us we build this country together. We have nothing against anybody because we are Kenyans and we are good people and all we want is the economic transformation of our country,” Gachagua stated.
On his part, the President-elect William Ruto said that the milestone they have achieved is the work of God.
“I’m overwhelmed, this is a moment like no other. It is God, without God we wouldn’t be here.”
The President-elect thanked all Kenyans from all faiths who prayed for him. He also thanked his friends and family from the enormous support.
“To the people of Kenya and those who have made and effort to get us here: We will not let you down, we will work hard,” Hon.William Ruto said.
“Today the people of Kenya have made a choice and that choice has been confirmed by the Judiciary… “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God,” the president went on to say.
The President-elect stated his elections has opened possibilities for all Kenyan children irrespective of their background or financial status. That they can be all who they want to be and achieve all they want.
Within the same breath of brotherhood, the President-elect thanked his fellow competitors and their supporters emphasising that they are not enemies but all of them are Kenyans.
“May the spirit of love for country and selfless service lie long in your hearts and may God always remember you,” Hon. Ruto said.
He said his administration shall do justice to all regardless of their social status, religion, ethnicity, and gender. Whether they voted for him or not.
“The hero of the campaign is the legendary mama mboga and boda boda. The hero of the election is Wafula Chebukati and the IEBC, and the hero of our democracy and the rule of law and constitutionalism is our judiciary.”
