Proverbs 6:6-8 NKJV
Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.
Think about how tiny an ant is and how microscopically minute its brain must be and yet with such an insignificant brain, it has the instinct and wisdom to gather food during the harvest and store up its food during the summer for later consumption.
The ant does not just work hard, it works hard and smart because it applies wisdom to what it does. This tiny creature understands the times and seasons and it works with a goal and purpose in mind.
You and I have a bigger more developed brain than the tiny ant and thus we should have wisdom on how and why we work. But just in case we do not have that wisdom, God has made provisions for us.
James 1:5 NKJV
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Joseph was not just a hard worker, he worked with wisdom as well. This wisdom is what enabled him to store grain during the years of plenty (just like the ant does) and when the famine came, Egypt was ready.
The book of proverbs has a lot to say about wisdom that you and I can learn from and not just the book of proverbs, the whole bible has a lot of insight on Godly wisdom but the problem is that many of us are not disciplined enough to read it.
My prayer is that we may learn to apply wisdom in the work we do, may we not lean on our own understanding but in all our ways acknowledge God and he will direct our path.
Reflections.
Do you know your work and what is the purpose of your work?
The ant works with seasons and goals in mind, have you set some Goals for 2022? How are you fairing so far?
How can you apply Godly wisdom in the work that you do?
