Luke :13-17
13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
Reading the story of how the birth of John the Baptist came to be, reminds me of what God told the prophet Jeremiah; “I knew you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart for me before you were born; I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”
John the Baptist is yet to be conceived and yet the angel tells Zacharias what his name will be and what his calling will be once he gets here. That should encourage you and I and tell us something. God knows each and every one of us. Before we were conceived, he knew us. This also means that the nation we were born in, the parents who conceived us, all that is no coincidence. God had it all laid out before we came to be.
Think about this, before Zacharias was born God had already ordained that he would be the father of John, the forerunner to the messiah.
You are not a mistake, nothing much may seem like its happening in your life at the moment and you may wonder what you are here for.
God ordained your purpose and function before he created you. Connect with him, he will reveal it to you.
