When Jesus walked the face of the earth, his ministry was like no other because it was accompanied by the manifestation of the power of God. Before Jesus ascended to heaven, he told his disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until they are endued with power from on high. This became a reality on the day of Pentecost, when they were filled with the Holy Spirit and boldness.

The early church was a church full of the manifestation of God’s power. Whenever they met, this power was manifested. One important thing that seems not to be given emphasis today is that God added to their number every day those who were being born again. Because they preached and taught the word because they lived what they were teaching, God added to their number every day those who were being saved.

Think about that and consider that in many of our churches today, we can go for weeks or months on end without anyone getting born again in our midst, and we are OK with it.

The power of God was so manifest in their midst that those who were hypocritical like Ananias and Saphira dropped dead because they lied to the Holy Spirit, and this happened in the presence of all.

Think of all the signs and wonders that were happening in their midst, the blind being healed, the dead being raised, being set free from prison by angels, being translated from one location to another and so on.

These men and women were able to walk in a dimension of God’s power that many today have not experienced because they walked with God in faith and were committed.

Jesus said;

We have the same power today, and we must be witnesses and allow this power to flow in our everyday life and not just on Sunday morning.
