How To Identify A True Church: Finding Your Place

Acts 2:42
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
After they believed, the believers in Jerusalem did one thing that is crucial for every new believer if they are to find their place in the local church. They devoted themselves to the Apostle’s teaching. When the word of God is taught, it brings about transformation and a change of mindset. In fact, as a believer we are encouraged to be continually transformed by the renewing of our minds as we are taught the word of God.
The Apostles, Prophets Teachers Pastors and Evangelists are to equip the believers for the work of ministry, meaning as you humble yourself and stay diligent to be taught then through revelation that comes from the word you will find your place of service in the body of Christ.
Serving comes from a place of love and humility. When you truly love God, then you will love people because he who does not love his brother whom he can see cannot claim to love God whom he cannot see. Love will compel us to do something, just as it compelled God who so loved the world that he gave his only son.
The issue we face in our churches is people who are not ready to be taught or people who pretend to hear, but they do not activate what they have been taught in their lives, and thus you see no fruit. These kind of people end up doing nothing in their local church and soon enough they will start murmuring and complaining because they are idle.
Men and women who have found their place and are functioning are too busy to complain.
If you have a willing heart, but you have no idea where you fit in, God will direct you because a willing heart will be ready to do whatever their hands find to do.
Reflections
What is your role in the local church you attend?
What spiritual gift has God given you to serve the body of Christ?
If you have not yet found your place in the local church, what must you do to find it?
