A Lifestyle of Giving: Giving Love

John 13:34-35 (AMP)
34 I am giving you a new commandment, that you [a]love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.”
Everyone is looking for it, everyone needs it because we are wired to give it and receive it. Many have gone to great lengths just to have it, while many have accepted counterfeits as the real thing without even knowing it. I am talking about love.
If there is one thing that every Christian should be known for giving, it is love. Love is the trademark of Christianity. For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten son. This is the foundation of our faith. In fact, the God we serve does not just love us, He is love and there can be no love without Him.
1 John 4:7-8 (AMP)
7 Beloved, let us [unselfishly] [a]love and seek the best for one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves [others] is born of God and knows God [through personal experience]. 8 The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.]
If we truly have the nature of God in us, then we will love others as Jesus commanded us. He says that the thing that will show the world that we are his disciples is the love that we have one for another. I believe that love is the greatest gift you can give to any human being. The bible says these three remain faith hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.
Love is never love until it is given away, and the book of 1 Corinthians breaks it down for us to see how love looks like when it is given away. When you give love away, it is demonstrated through patience and kindness. It is not envious, and neither does it boast. Love never presents itself as pride. When you love, the person being loved fells honoured and special.
Today, you will have people cross your path who need to be loved and accepted. Will you give then godly love and acceptance, or will you hold back? Remember Paul tells us that you can give and do all manner of things but if they are not given in a foundation of Godly love then they amount to nothing.
Give some love today!
