Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has issued a coronavirus update today following the steady increase in new infections being reported in the country.
While addressing the media the CS said that the infection is likely to get worse in view of the drop in temperatures occasioned by the current season.
“The government urges Kenyans to get vaccinated and wear masks when in Matatus, supermarkets, places of worship, and political rallies owing to the recent increase in daily infections.”
He further urged that there’s need for all those with respiratory-like illnesses to seek appropriate medical care, and be tested for Covid-19.
“Unfortunately, vaccination rate has dropped. This is an area of concern because most people who are currently hospitalised have never been vaccinated,” CS Kagwe said.
As of June 18th 2022, a total of 18,582,262 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 16,644,170 are doses administered to the adult population (18 years and above).
