Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
At the heart of the Christian faith is the firm belief that Jesus, and He alone, is the only way to God. That no other person, or thing, or system will grant us access to the Father except that we come through His Son. This is essentially because man is sinful by nature, and God is holy, and therefore, man’s sin must be dealt with somehow. And Jesus takes upon Himself the sin of the whole world and dies the death that we deserve so that if we place our faith in Him, then we gain a right standing with God.
New age spirituality on the hand teaches that man is essentially good only that he does bad things sometimes. That, if only man can attain the highest form of consciousness, then he would cease to do evil. Further, this system of religious thought teaches that there are many ways to God and that God is in everything. Notice that this is a sharp contrast to the omni-presence of God. Thus, the new ager will pray all manner of prayers, including exercising manifesting and calling on the universe. Unfortunately, this has crept into the church and believers mix Christianity and new age thought without seeing a contradiction or a problem with that. May God deliver us from this great deception that has so infiltrated and pervaded the church of Christ.
