Wisdom in Small Things: The Spider

Proverbs 30:28
28 The [g]spider skillfully grasps with its hands, And it is in kings’ palaces.
A king’s palace is a fortified place. It is not the kind of place that you can walk in and walk out at will, you need an appointment to be able to walk into a palace. That is not the case for a spider. No matter how the palace is fortified, a spider will walk in and walk out at will because it can skillfully grasp with its hands.
What can you skillfully grasp?
The word of God is full of amazing promises that God has spelled out for us who believe in him. The promises of God are not automatic, but rather they are conditional; thus we need to reach out and grasp them. There is a certain level of life that God has promised those who walk with him. The sad reality is that many believers do not get to live life on that level because we fail to reach out and lay hold of his promises.
The promises of God don’t care how tall or short you are, how rich or poor you are, or what race you belong to. As long as you fulfil the requirements for the promise, then you can lay hold of the promise.
Like the spider, may we learn to be skillful in grasping what God has promised us through his word. No matter how small we may think we are, similar to the spider, we can walk into palaces and people will wonder how we got there.
Ask David, he has a story to tell.
