Spiritual Health: Exercise

Ephesians 2:10 NKJV
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Are you getting enough exercise? How active are you? These are some of the questions you will be asked when you start taking your physical health seriously. Physical exercise is important because it improves your health and reduces the risk of getting infections. It also improves your muscle strength and endurance. The first time you try running round a field, within no time you will be gasping for breath but if you keep at it, you develop endurance and you can go for longer.
Exercise calls for discipline and that’s the area where many people fall off the tracks because they lack self discipline.
In the same manner, we also need to exercise spiritually and that basically means doing the word or exercising our faith. The danger in today’s world is that we have such an influx of information, so much that if you are not careful, then getting the information becomes the end goal.
As a believer do you find yourself chasing after one revelation and another? The question then is, what are you doing with the word you have received?
Our key verse says that there are good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. The bible also tells us that faith without works is dead. When we remain to be a people who only SHOUTS AMEN when the word is preached but don’t practice it, then we are not believers nor followers of Christ.
Hebrews 6:11-12 NKJV
11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become [a]sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
When we hear the word and we do not respond to it then we become sluggish creating an environment to unbelief because you will not experience what is written in the word unless you do. We each have work to do and it is clearly laid out in the Bible.
Matthew 5:16 NKJV
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
The more you exercise spiritually, the more your light shines and when your light shines, others will see it, it cannot be hidden. The question you and I need to ask ourselves is this;
Are we content with sitting in the pews and filling notebooks with notes and becoming sluggish or will we get up and get out to do the work that was prepared beforehand that we should walk in them?
